Madeline’s Room

For the first time in their lives, my girls have their own bedrooms.  This has been their opportunity to express themselves as we allowed them to chose how they wanted to fix up their bedrooms.  The finished projects are definitely a reflection of their personalities.

Madeline loves anything to do with color.  From her hobbies to how she dresses to her personality, color defines Madeline.  Audley says she is going to clown college when she grows up, but I think we will find her living in New York with all the other starving artists in Bohemia.  Whichever path Madeline chooses for her life, it will definitely be one to watch.

Madeline looked at several magazines and books trying to find just what she wanted in a bedroom.  She put a lot of thought into her look; girlie, but not frilly.

So, grab your sunglasses because you are going to need them as we visit Madeline’s room today!

I found Maddie’s Nautica bedspreads, shams, and throw pillows at TJ Maxx; all of it just $100.00.   The ensemble had all of Madeline’s favorite colors worked in from dark to light and VERY bright!

When we discussed what color to paint her walls I thought she might go for the royal blue or yellow found in the bedspread, but not Maddie.  She wanted pink!  That bright, glow-in-the-dark pink that you can see for miles!

We used Behr “Springtime Bloom” for the walls.  It took a while to finish the walls as Audley was repairing sheet rock damage from the tenants we had living here.  The boys apparently thought it would be fun to shoot BB’s into the walls.

Her nightstand (that I found for $3 at a yard sale) is painted “Star-Spangled blue” that was left over from the kitchen. As you can see, Maddie has incorporated most of the bedding colors in her room: a lavender lamp, a green initial, two shades of pink in her curtains, and colorful picture frames filled with memories.   While the color of the wall’s was not my pick, she really does love the room she put together and that is all that matters.

In a day or two we’ll visit Kenzie-Grace’s room for a whole different look!  Have a great week!

  1. I love Maddie’s bright and colorful room. It shows she has a beautiful & vibrant personality who knows what she wants and loves her life… She must be a fun girl to have around who exudes happiness and joy. It’s a great room Maddie and it looks like your mom and dad worked hard to help you accomplish it. (BB’s? ) Congratulations on having your very own room.
